Hiscox: Mossage
Visitors to Hiscox UK's London office at the end of last year might have wondered why the normally spotless windows of Gt St Helen's appeared to be covered in moss. Window cleaner on strike? Global warming making its mark? In fact, the mossage was commissioned especially to celebrate Hiscox UK achieving carbon neutrality for
2010.
Having adopted an environmental policy that encouraged the business to operate more sustainably in 2010, the results saw a 13% decrease in overall waste sent
to landfill, a 15% decrease in overall building energy use and a 12% reduction in
water use.
Overall, Hiscox UK reduced its carbon footprint by 6% with the balance of its (largely unavoidable) carbon emissions offset through an investment in an African Energy Efficient Stove Project.
Commenting on the achievement, Steve Langan, Managing Director Hiscox UK, said: "I would like to thanks all those who worked so hard in 2010 towards our push to make our business carbon neutral. It is important that we do not see 2010 as a one-off however and continue to work towards limiting the impact our business has on the environment."
CURB were able to deliver an amazing natural medium to compliment Hiscox's proud message of becoming carbon neutral in 2010. The mossages were a very engaging and effective way to communicate our green news to the company and the wider audience.
