National Trust grass sofa

National Trust: Grass sofas

“Working with the National Trust and Mischief Pr, CURB created a world first by quite literally building 12 sofas (including one 30ft one) and tables entirely out of grass and hay. The campaign was amazing success with thousands of visitors up and down the country settling into the sofas and enjoying the beautiful natural scenery. Coverage on and offline was covered by the country’s biggest trend and what’s hot publications.

Curb worked with the National Trust to help bring to life an ideal of one of our founders, Octavia Hill. Her aim was for the nation to see outdoor spaces as their very own outdoor living rooms - so our brief for them was to bring this ideal very much to life in as natural and sustainable way as possible - which they did to startling affect! Curb spent a huge amount of time creating huge 'living' grass sofas for 12 of the Trust's special places. From testing out different build options to weather testing the turf and even testing the playability of the sofas with the help of some of their very enthusiastic team - they really jumped into this project with both feet. Their dedication to the project at hand was clear to see from all the effort they went into to make the campaign a success - they were extremely helpful and always on the other end of the phone with help and advice - often going out of their way to help and working on tasks out of work hours so I really had the feeling that nothing was too much trouble for them and they definitely went far beyond their remit on the project to make sure everything ran as smoothly as possible. The properties were delighted with their sofas and the feedback from many of them was that the visitors loved them just at much -which was what we wanted to campaign to do - help our visitors enjoy their day out with the National Trust and raise awareness of the simple pleasures of the great outdoors. We would definitely use Curb again to help us bring our ideas to life and would recommend them to anybody looking for a friendly, efficient, creative and dedicated team to help them in their work.
