UNESCO Creative Cities Network

“Creative Design City NAGOYA 2009” International Designers Workshop

Organizer: Creative Design City NAGOYA Organizing Committee (City of Nagoya, Nagoya Chamber of Commerce & Industry, International Design Center, NAGOYA Inc., Council of Chubu Design Organizations)

As part of Unesco's creative cities network and drive towards increasing the awareness of sustainable design, the CURB team was asked to consult and direct a sustainable urban design workshop for international designers in the beautiful city of Nagoya in Japan.

Over the course of the week we directed a team of international Asian designers and created a whole new Natural Media installation. The unique natural piece created was inspired by the ancient culture of using Cedarwood grass as signage by sake growers in Japan.

In a final presentation to over 300 people in Japan the CURB team and international designers presented a giant cedarwood grass ball as a unique natural count down clock leading towards the cities 400th anniversary.
